You are what you wear

What is a theatre production without great costumes? Just a bunch of actors who do not look the part. This is why the Bank of Cyprus Cultural foundation is organising a children’s theatre workshop next Saturday to introduce kids to the fascinating process of costume design.

The participating children, from four to six-years-old, will have the chance to get to know the job of a costume designer during two 60-minute sessions on May 26 – the first at 10.30am and the second at 12pm.

The workshop, a collaboration between the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Cyprus Theatre Museum under the name What does a costume designer do, Mr Wardrober? will be based on interaction with Mr Wardrober, the Theatre Museum’s costume design mascot.

Mr Wardrober will take the children on a journey to the world of outfits designed for the stage. On their journey, the kids will get involved in hands-on activities which will help them discover the process of creating a costume, while cultivating their imagination and observation skills.

The workshop will be led by theatrologist Nicoletta Tziaouri.
