Guaba welcomes back Egyptian DJs Aly and Fila

As we approach summer another legendary Guaba Sunday beckons, bringing with it the best trance music from Aly & Fila. Finally returning after their performance in September last year, the Egyptian duo will fill the venue with electricity and euphoria with their unforgettable performance.

Trance, a genre of electronic music, emerged from the rave scene in the UK in the late 1980s and developed further during the early 90s in Germany before spreading throughout the rest of Europe. At the same time that trance music was developing in Europe, the genre was also gathering a following in the Indian state of Goa. Trance is mostly instrumental, although vocals can be mixed in.

Aly & Fila are an Egyptian trance music duo made up of Aly El Sayed Amr Fathalah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila). They host an internet radio show called Future Sound of Egypt, and are the founders of the label of the same name.

They were both born in 1981 and have known each other since kindergarten. After falling in love with the music of Paul Van Dyk, The Thrillseekers and Chicane, they built their first small studio and started doing electronic music and DJing in 1999.

Ranked 19th in the world (out of the top 100 DJs) by Mix Mag in 2012, Aly & Fila began their DJing journey at the young age of 18. Once they established themselves in Egypt, they decided to go international, signing with the German record label Euphonic Records in 2003.
