Man squashed by own truck

A 46-year-old man was severely injured on Tuesday afternoon in the Larnaca district after failing to park his truck properly which ended up squashing him against a neighbour’s wall.

The unfortunate 46-year-old had initially stopped his vehicle outside his home at around 2pm on Tuesday but left the engine running and had most likely forgotten to pull the hand brake, police said.

The truck began moving and in his efforts to stop it, he was trapped between the driver’s door and a neighbour’s surrounding wall.

Fire-fighters were called to the scene and managed to free the 46-year-old. He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where doctors confirmed he suffered a fractured sternum, pelvis and leg as well as internal bleeding. His condition is considered serious but stable and his life is not in danger.
