The Olympic resort, a 35-floor building, has received a conditional green light after an environmental assessment, community leader of Moutayiaka, Limassol said on Wednesday.
The building with apartments, swimming pools, a spa, a gym and parking will become the second such high-rise in the community with the other one just completed, Vassos Koumbaros said.
Building is expected to start in the second half of 2018 at a cost of € 80 million and completed within three years.
Before that, Leonetti Co Ltd., the company in charge of the project, needs to meet the conditions set by the environment department.
One of them is to prepare a groundwater disposal plan which is subject to approval.
The environmental study also says indigenous trees and shrubs which need little water must be planted with synthetic grass for the mini golf area.
Irrigation for any real grass should come from recycled water. In addition, water-saving systems should be installed and only approved chemicals used.
Another precondition of the approval is that the terms set by the antiquities department are applied.
The proposed road network must be completed before or, at the very least, at the same time as the rest of the construction work and the issue of access to the buildings needs to be resolved at the beginning of construction.
The project, 70 metres from the sea, has a total area of 32,726 square metres, of which 2,815 square metres will be the building plot and 4,487 public green space. Parking for 310 cars is planned on two levels, partly underground and on the ground floor.
Taking into account the environmental specifications, the investors are planning to plant 400 mature trees such as carob trees and pine trees.
Apart from concrete, glass and aluminium will be used for the exterior of the buildings.
Five more high rise towers are set to be built in Limassol this year, already home to several skyscrapers along the city’s coast road.
Construction firm Cybarco has been obtained all permits for their project named Trilogy which consists of three towers set to be built on a seafront plot next to Enaerios. The completion date is expected to be 2023.
Of three towers the west tower which will be 39 floors, the east 36 and the north 37.
Meanwhile, the Blue Marine project by Leptos has also received a conditional yes from the environment department and is now awaiting a planning permit from the Limassol municipality.
Set to be built next to the Limassol Marina, it entails four buildings, two towers 29 and 33 storeys high and two buildings of five and nine floors each.
The buildings will house luxury residences, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a health and spa centre and eating facilities.
