‘Adopt a family for Christmas’

The Volunteerism Coordinative Council (PVCC) on Thursday launched its fourth annual ‘Adopt a Family for Christmas’ campaign, inviting individuals, companies, schools and organisations to sponsor a household with everything it needs for the Christmas table.
In last year’s campaign, more than 1,000 families were adopted by individuals, groups, companies and organisations, the PVCC said.
The aim of the campaign is that ‘no family and no child is left without all the necessary that help to bring the joy of Christmas’ the council said in a statement.
“For this purpose, we urge everyone not forget this year our fellow humans in need of our help,” it added.
The main supporter of the campaign, the Central Cooperative Bank, will offer necessary items for the Christmas table of 150 families, the PVCC said.
Those interested may donate items – food and sweets – and presents for children.
“You can offer anything relevant and as much as you can,” the statement said
Donations will be accepted until December 18 at collection points at PVCC offices in all districts. Mavromatis bookstores will also collect books and other presents which will be delivered to the PVCC to be given to needy children.
