A religious look back

The exhibition Reformation 500 at the Kasteliotissa Medieval Hall in Nicosia on Tuesday will display various copies of the Bible and Bible manuscripts on loan from the Bible society in celebration of 500 years of Reformation history.

Reformation, or Protestant Reformation, is said to have started in 1517 with the publication of the Ninety-Five Theses by Luther. These 500 years since the publication will also be highlighted at the exhibition with a time line showing the major events in the Christian Church from its formation to the present day, visually illustrating significant turning points in the history of Christianity. Short video clips will also be shown to tell the story of different aspects of the Reformation.

The exhibition will be open from 4pm and reformation music will be performed at 6.30pm until 7pm when Dr Radisa Antic – a renowned international speaker, writer, lecturer and biblical research scholar – will share his experience of The Protestant Discovery during a lecture.

Refreshments will also be served and there will also be exciting surprises awaiting young visitors.

The exhibition and lecture are hosted by the Nicosia Seventh-day Adventist Church, one of the protestant churches present on the island for more than a century.
If you have an old bible you would like to bring along to the exhibition, contact Marica Mirilov on 99-980312 or send her an email on [email protected].
