Just more stupidity from our legislature

The issue of a one-off cut on the 13th salaries of public-sector to fund a Christmas bonus for the needy has been an unbelievable farce. First they wanted to impose the cut but when civil servants complained, they thought to cut 13th salaries across the private sector as well without clearly stating how this would be done.

Firstly most workers in the private sector have not seen a 13th salary for several years now, despite the labour ministry’s radio ads reminding employers in hushed tones that their staff are human beings and need to be treated as such. How can deputies act as if they don’t know this simple fact, and even consider cutting private-sector 13th salaries when we have already had pay cuts that are double – and more – those imposed on public servants? Anyway, how would they know who received the bonus and who didn’t?  Just more stupidity from our legislature.

Secondly, public servants are always crying about how everyone should be treated the same way but this applies only when they’re being tapped for a contribution. You don’t hear them complain when the masses are being tapped for more, and they are not, which is the norm.
