Pamboridis promises private security for hospitals

Health Minister Giorgos Pamboridis has pledged to purchase private security for the protection of hospital staff, state doctors’ union Pasyki said on Monday.

In a statement following a meeting between Pamboridis and Pasyki last week, the union said measures needed to be taken to clampdown on violent incidents against medical staff at their workplace.

According to Pasyki, Pamboridis proposed the immediate purchase of private security and submitting a bill to parliament that would provide for heavy penalties to deter people from mistreating health services staff.

The two parties also discussed implementing stricter visiting hours.
