Cousins arrested after car chase

A 19-year-old conscript and his 21-year-old cousin, both from Avgorou, were arrested on Saturday for carrying a shotgun within a game reserve area, outside the hunting season.

The two men were spotted by members of the game and fauna service driving in the area of the Achna Dam in a car that had no licence plates. When the officers signalled the car to stop, the driver failed to comply, leading to a chase.

At some point, the 21-year-old, who was the passenger, was seen throwing a shotgun out of the car. Following this, the car stopped and the 21-year-old exited, while the 19-year-old fled in the car.

Later in the day, the 19-year-old was also arrested.
