Running in nature for a cause

The Dro.Me.A. Racing Runners’ club is organising its eighth annual five km Cablenet Run the Park race at Athalassa National Park in Nicosia on September 9, so use your time at the beach before the event to do a bit of training.

The event, which is co-organised with the Aglantzia Municipality and supported by PASYKAF, and sponsored by Cablenet, is open to runners over 16-years-old.

There will also be an 800 metre race for children up to 13- years-old, with free registration. For this race, registrations will be held on the day of the event between 7 and 8am and the race will kick off at 9.20 am (parents’ signed consent is required).

Registration for the five-km race can be completed online at www.dromearacing.com until September 3. The registration fee is €10 and the race will start at 8.30 am at the Latsia entrance, 200 metres from the park entrance, near the round-about of the Nicosia General Hospital. All participants will receive a sports belt and a medal at the finish line.

Part of the proceedings will be donated to the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF).

The event not only aims at promoting social sport in the local society but it also sends out a loud message for the protection of Cyprus parks, which offer us beautiful natural surroundings, ideal for outdoor sporting activities.
