Where do you live?
Polemi Village with my wife, Molly
Best childhood memory?
Bonfire Night. I loved everything connected with it. Memory is an amazing thing; our Garden of Memories project is all about just this – what, how and who we remember and what we do to mark it.
Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish?
The Olive Tree Taverna, Polemi and pork chop, of course.
What did you have for breakfast?
Cereal and toast with honey
Would you class yourself as a day or night person?
Both really, busy in the day but I enjoy relaxing in an evening. Right now with the Project, we seem to be engaged all the time.
What is your favourite night out?
Quality live music and good food with friends
Best book ever read?
Uhuru by Robert Ruark, I read this as a young man and it was my first introduction to African politics and intrigue. A great novel.
Favourite film of all time?
The Shawshank Redemption. This movie left a lasting impression of the harshness of American prison life, injustice and humanity.
Favourite holiday destination (or best holiday ever taken)?
Rhodes for my 60th birthday. We stayed in a top hotel and explored the island and its historical background.
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Sunshine Radio, it’s either that or my wife’s Rod Stewart collection of cds
What is always in your fridge?
The usual plus our basset hound’s nose, if he gets the chance !
Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling and where would it be, what would it be like?
I was brought up in a northern village in England and do prefer village life which is why I am perfectly happy in Polemi. We have great views from our secluded house and have many friends in the village. We started the St Michael’s Charity shop there as a community service and it goes from strength to strength. It has also been the jumping off point for the ‘Garden of Memories’ project
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Bob Hope. This guy achieved so much and gave generously of his time over the years for good causes. I wish I could be as funny, interesting and live to be over 100.
If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Cancel the weekly shop.
What is your greatest fear?
A third World War
Tell me a joke
What do you call a three legged Donkey?
A wonkey.
Physical work will start on the Garden of Memories project as soon as funds are raised and hopefully will be finished before the year end. To donate, look for them on Facebook
