Cypriot student wins silver at IT Olympiad

Cypriot student Angelos Pelekanos has won a silver medal at the 29th International Olympiad in Informatics held in Tehran, Iran, from July 28 to August 4, the Cyprus Computer Society announced on Friday.

The Cyprus Computer Society has been organising events for the past 29 years with increasing success over the years and is regularly involved in sending students to international events.

The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is an annual international informatics competition for high school students from various invited countries, accompanied by social and cultural programmes.

Its objectives are to discover, encourage, bring together, challenge, and give recognition to young people who are exceptionally talented in the field of informatics and to foster friendly international relationships among computer scientists and informatics educators.
