PASYDY announces two-hour warning strike

Government workers union PASYDY on Friday announced a two-hour strike  in response to a suggestion to cut 3 per cent off the public sector workers’ 13th salaries.

The strike will he held on Thursday, the union said.

PASYDY chairman, Glafkos Hadjipetrou, said any reduction in public sector wages was illegal.

PASYDY’s reaction followed a meeting of party leaders or representatives, who decided to look into whether it was feasible to cut 3 per cent off the public sector workers’ 13th salaries and give the savings to needy families.
