‘Much more than a cookery book’

The book Cyprus- A culinary journey is one of the best representations of what Cyprus has to offer, Finance Minister Harris Georgiades has said, adding that it was much more than a cookery book.

Speaking at the presentation of the Russian edition of the book, supported by RCB Bank Ltd, Georgiades said the book was “a truly excellent publication and I am not surprised at all that it has been collecting awards in a global scale since its publication.”

The book has already been published in English and German and has won six international awards.

The book depicts encounters with the people, landscape, culture, nature and traditions while 70 recipes have been researched, reworked and personally cooked by the German star chef Franz Keller and the Cypriot TV cook Marilena Joannides. The visuals for the recipes were shot by prizewinning food photographer, Markus Bassler

Vladimir Popov, Deputy CEO of RCB Bank, said the authors had done an excellent job blending culture, history, photos and recipes and expressed confidence that the people who buy the book would enjoy reading it and imagine themselves on the island.
Author, Marrianne Salentine Trager said: “Our book is a culinary declaration of love to the island of love, integrated”.
