President wraps up contacts on sidelines of WEF

President Nicos Anastasiades has held a series of meetings with heads of state and government on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Amman, Jordan, with whom he discussed the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, energy matters and bilateral issues.

Anastasiades on Sunday took part in a round table discussion in the framework of the Forum on the Middle East and North Africa Forum.

He also met with the High Representative of the European Union on Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini with whom he exchanged views on the Cyprus issue and the role of the EU in the effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem compatible with the acquis communautaire.

The President explained to Mogherini the proposal he submitted to the Turkish Cypriot leader in the framework of Cyprus peace talks.

He said if his proposal was to be accepted by the Turkish Cypriot leader, then a solution could be reached before the presidential elections in February 2018.
