Funeral 39 years after killing

THE FUNERAL of Giorgos Antoniou Englezou, whose remains had lain in a mass grave in Afania since his death on August 16, 1974, finally took place on Wednesday afternoon more than 39 years after he was killed.

Englezou was just 11 years old when he was killed during the invasion. His remains were identified after forensic tests identified his DNA in the grave in Afania. Ayios Athanasios Mayor Kyriacos Hadjitophis gave a eulogy at the funeral which took place at 2pm at the church of Ayios Stylianos in Linopetra.
