Man to stand trial for rape

The Paphos district court on Thursday referred to criminal trial a 45-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a work colleague.

The first hearing at the criminal court has been set for January 26.

According to the complaint lodged by the alleged victim, a 38-year-old woman, on October 22 the accused forced her into the bathrooms of the restaurant where they both worked, and proceeded to rape her.

The court ordered the man released on condition he post a €75,000 bond. The accused has additionally been placed on a stop list, ordered to hand over his passport, and he must report to a police station every Wednesday morning.
