There is shopping in the air

Get a start on your Christmas shopping tomorrow at the Christmas bazaar at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Nicosia from 11am until 2pm.

The bazaar, organised by the Women’s Friendship Group of Nicosia (WFG), is a wonderful chance to shop for your loved ones without breaking the bank while also supporting local charities. A number of stalls will line the Cathedral’s hall and be jam-packed with high quality gifts, clothes and other goods all at bargain prices.

The organisers tempt all to join in the fun by saying “this year’s bazaar includes our popular hot curry stall, delicious home-made cakes and preserves, Christmas plants, a wide selection of books, a raffle with good prizes and much more, and musical entertainment this year is from the children at the Falcon School.”

The Women’s Friendship Group, which is an informal organisation open to all English-speaking women in Cyprus, organises a wide-ranging group of activities and has a long history of supporting local charities, while it recently celebrated its forty-first birthday. The annual Christmas bazaar is one of the group’s main fund-raising events.

Charities supported over many years by the group help elderly people, disabled children, psychiatric patients, impoverished families and victims of violence in the home. The group also supports the education of girls in Africa and in India.
