Review: Caffe Nero, Paphos

Caffe Nero at Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos provides a haven for weary shoppers and a convenient place to grab a satisfying coffee when catching up with friends.

With both an indoor and outdoor space, this corner café is found on the upper level of Paphos’ shopping mall. Often packed during peak hours, Caffe Nero staff are efficient, smiling and friendly.

Premium Italian coffee sets the standard for the rest of the menu of this franchised chain, which includes all sorts of drinks and snacks.

Air conditioning provides welcome relief from the beating sun during the summer, although a shaded outdoor terrace is also a good vantage point to watch the goings on – and the never ending road works – of the busy Tomb of the Kings Road below.

Frazzled shoppers pop in for a cooling frappe, fresh juice or a bite to eat, but this is also a venue where some patrons stay for hours nursing the same drink.

Chairs are comfortable and the interior also includes a number of arm chairs. Wifi is available and all sorts of coffees are excellent and prepared by well-trained baristas.

This is a branded cafe with a difference; a cut above many others which have popped up around Cyprus. Caffe Nero in Paphos has a real vibe of a European coffee house and has already proved to be a popular meeting spot for locals and tourists of all ages.

If you love coffee, you will appreciate a Caffe Nero espresso. It’s thick, smooth and has a tantalising aroma, if that’s too strong for you, the cappuccino and cooling frappes are also enjoyable.

Snacks and salads, handmade sandwiches, cakes and cookies are also served, they are reasonably priced and fresh. Wine and beer is also available. Background music adds to the ambience and isn’t intrusive.

Overall, Caffe Nero have got it just right, a well-known brand with a little something extra, good service and décor and a prime location. And the coffee is good too.
