International School of Paphos gains PASCH Scholarships

Six students of The International School of Paphos (ISOP) have gained scholarships from the internationally renowned PASCH network for a one-week online course in German.

ISOP officially became part of the worldwide programme Schools: Partners for the Future in June 2019. PASCH was launched in February 2008 by Germany’s federal foreign office and now forms a global network of more than 2,000 schools with particular ties to Germany.

The Goethe-Institute supports around 600 PASCH schools in national education systems of over 100 countries, one of them being The International School of Paphos.

Being part of the global network of PASCH means:

  • Raising prospects through education
  • Providing access to language and education
  • Broadening horizons through multilingualism
  • Jointly tackling future problems as an international community of learners

Normally, only state schools can join the PASCH network, not private schools. However, an exception to the rule was granted to ISOP because it has placed a high value on German since its foundation. ISOP’s German department has always worked closely with the Goethe-Institute in Nicosia and The International School of Paphos has the highest number of German learners of all schools in Cyprus.

“Access to scholarships, in order to provide our students with additional qualifications that will serve them well in the future, was one of our aims in joining the network. We are sure that our cooperation with Goethe will continue to flourish and bring fruit in the future,” PASCH coordinator and subject leader for German Jana Panayi said.
