Coronavirus: Work visits to homes permitted, ministry clarifies

People offering services that require them to visit their customers’ homes can do so, the health ministry clarified on Wednesday, a day after a ban on house visits was announced.

The health ministry, after receiving numerous questions, clarified that people offering services such as house cleaning, gardening, repairs, babysitting and others, are allowed to go to houses.

“Such occasions are not considered social gatherings thus their presence in houses for work is allowed, but only for the time period they need to carry out their work,” a health ministry spokesperson said.

The same applies for health-care professionals who need to visit patients in their homes such as physiotherapists, nurses but also speech therapists etc.

In a bid to further curb the spread of coronavirus, following a surge in cases, the health minister on Tuesday issued a new decree forbidding people to be in any house other than their own. This restriction is in force until January 10.

The only exception to the new decree will take place on New Year’s Eve, where up to 10 people from no more than two different households will be allowed to meet. Minors are included in the 10.
