Coronavirus: special committee to tackle psychological effects of pandemic

The health ministry announced Wednesday it has set up a special committee tasked with tackling the psychological effects of the pandemic.

In a statement, the ministry said the Covid pandemic was not only affecting the physical health of the community, but it also took a toll on people’s mental health.

To provide help and support to people, the ministry said it has set up a committee with psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, social workers, and other related professions.

The committee will undertake actions aiming at the psychological recovery of the population, the ministry said.

Its work will focus on providing consultation the health ministry on possible actions that would prevent and minimise the negative effects of the pandemic on mental health.
