Coronavirus: 5,578 checks, 81 booked

During 24 hours from Tuesday until Wednesday police carried out 5,578 checks in an attempt to stop the coronavirus from spreading and booked 81 individuals, one of them a business owner, for violations of decrees.

In Nicosia, 2,070 checks were conducted, in Limassol 964, in Larnaca 757, in Paphos 883, in Famagusta 663 and in the Morphou region 256.

As a result, 34 persons were fined in Nicosia, 21 in Limassol, 10 in Larnaca, 11 in Paphos and five in Famagusta.

Marine police carried out an additional 15 inspections but did not report any illegalities.
