The history of one of Australia’s biggest secondhand bookshops

This video takes a look at an Australian institution, Gould’s Book Arcade just before its relocation in 2018, with a particular emphasis on the life of Bob Gould, the bookseller and ‘Sydney radical’, as recounted by his daughter Natalie.

Established in Sydney in 1967, Gould’s Book Arcade is Australia’s largest retailer of used, remaindered, out-of-print and rare books under one roof. Since 1988, the shop was located at the city end of King Street, Newtown, but then moved in late 2018, to 536 King Street, directly opposite Alice Street in south Newtown.
