Limassol police probing internet scam

The Limassol crime investigation unit is investigating a man’s claim he was scammed out of €22,386 he had deposited into a Spanish bank account.

During the last month, the Limassol resident had been in contact with a company online to arrange details to buy a loading machine, which he found listed online.

After the payment went through however, all contact from the seller was cut off.

Police have emphasised that the public should exercise extreme caution when purchasing goods online and by phone, or when giving out personal details.
