Virtual Christmas concert dedicated to frontline heroes

Since concerts can’t take place physically right now, let them happen virtually! The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with PwC Cyprus, will present a special Christmas Concert on social media this week dedicated to all the medical, nursing and support staff who are on the frontlines tackling Covid-19.

“Over the past few months, and especially in this period, we are faced with great uncertainty and intense challenges as a result of the spread of the pandemic. The real heroes of this period are the frontline healthcare workers to whom we dedicate this concert, as a sign of recognition and appreciation of their valuable contribution,” PwC Cyprus CEO Evgenios Evgeniou said.

The recorded concert includes an extensive selection of the most beautiful Christmas songs and orchestral pieces of all time. Audiences all over Cyprus will have the opportunity to enjoy songs such as Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Santa Baby and White Christmas, and orchestral pieces such as Antonio Vivaldi’s Winter concerto and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasy on Greensleeves.

Soprano Aliki Chrysochou will be performing the songs and the renowned Maestro Gerardo Estrada Martínez will be conducting the CySO.

The concerts will be broadcast on December 24 and 25 at 11am and on December 26 and 27 at 5pm. Audiences can tune into the streaming through the Facebook pages of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and PwC Cyprus, as well as through the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra YouTube channel (CYSO Channel).

“Do join us for this festive, heart-warming programme,” the Orchestra said.
