Winter swim held for fourth year to raise money for child cancer patients

For the fourth year in a row, MEP Loucas Fourla organised a December swim on Saturday in support of child cancer patients, along with Deputy Attorney General Savvas Aggelides, Nicosia Mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis and a few frogmen reserves.

The men, wearing diving masks and wetsuits, dove in the sea at the Akti Olympion in Limassol and finished at the dock of the old port.

In a tweet on Saturday, Fourlas said “despite the difficulties due to a pandemic, we swam for ‘Our Little Heroes’ at the paediatric oncology ward [of Makario hospital].

“Because no child must fight against cancer on their own,” Fourlas told the media.

The aim of the initiative is to financially and psychologically support children with cancer.

The event this year was closed to the public due to the pandemic.
