Larnaca wrecks go festive this Christmas (photos)

Christmas cheer is taking to the seabed off Larnaca, thanks to inclusion of two shipwrecks in this season’s festivities, the Larnaca Tourism Board said on Friday.

One of the wrecks, the Elpida, was for the first time decorated by diving school Nemo Dive Center.

The legendary Zenobia will also be decorated on Saturday. The owner, A.A.K. Larnaca Napa Sea Cruises, has invited all diving lovers to participate in this event.

Participants should come with small non-toxic and non-soluble ornaments to decorate the tree.

After the event all the ornaments will be removed to keep the shipwreck in its original state.

After the dive, there will be a Christmas meal with a Cypriot buffet.

The event starts at 10am, when participants will be taken to the wreck from Larnaca marina.

Participation is free but registration at 24-656949 or 96-444504 is necessary.

Organisers said all Covid-19 protocols will be adhered to.
