Maronite archbishop bids farewell to Cyprus

Humanitarian affairs commissioner Photis Photiou on Wednesday met the Maronite archbishop in Cyprus, Youssef Soueif, who is leaving Cyprus to take up duties in Tripoli, Lebanon.

Photiou thanked the archbishop for the work he accomplished on behalf of the Maronite community in Cyprus and said the government was always there to support the religious minorities on the island both financially or otherwise.

He referred to state aid for existing infrastructure projects and monuments of the religious group in the government-controlled areas and also the restoration of Maronite churches and monasteries in the north of the island.

The archbishop thanked Photiou and the people of Cyprus for their support.
