Among the many fascinating details about the animal kingdom, is the rarity of the colour blue. Fewer than 1% of creatures, which are perceived to be blue, actually are that colour. Nature uses physics to deceive us.

This is because while animals can produce many hues of pigment, blue is a problem… To appear blue, most creatures will have to rely on physical structures to scatter light and cancel other colours.
