Coronavirus: Coffee shop shut down for breaking gambling laws, curfew

A coffee shop in the Paphos district was forced to shut down on Tuesday by the district court after its owner was found violating laws on gambling and the measures against the spread of coronavirus.

The case was brought to court after six people were caught gambling there on November 21. They were charged at the time for violating the night time curfew and for not wearing face masks.

They appeared in court on Wednesday and are to return in court on Friday to answer to the charges.

The court also ordered the suspension of the coffee shop’s operation until the date of the trial.
