UN envoy Lute expected in Cyprus on Sunday evening

UN Secretary-general envoy Jane Holl Lute is set to arrive to the island on Sunday evening ahead of separate meetings slated for Tuesday.

On Monday, Lute is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar and the rest of the UN team on the island dealing with the Cyprus problem.

Lute on Tuesday will be meeting Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar at 11am, followed by a meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades at 2pm.

Her visit will come to an end on Wednesday when she is set to fly out to Athens for meetings with the Greek government. According to the Cyprus News Agency, a scheduled visit to Ankara has not been confirmed yet.

CNA cited sources saying that Lute is in contact with the UK and will continue teleconferences with stakeholders in London, though a formal visit is not currently on the agenda.
