House fire in Nicosia contained

The fire services have contained a fire which broke out at an uninhabited house in Ayii Trimythia in the Nicosia district on Wednesday evening, causing damage to the interior and leading to the collapse of part of the roof.

Fire services spokesman Andreas Kettis said that police and firefighters with three fire trucks had responded to the fire at 20.22pm.

He said that the house and appliances had sustained considerable damage from the fire and from the hot gases while part of the roof had collapsed. The house was not inhabited, Kettis added.

The cause of the fire will be investigated on Thursday in cooperation with police and the electromechanical services.
