Close contacts of Cypra slaughterhouse staff are urged to self-isolate, get tested

The health ministry on Sunday called on members of the public who are close contacts of the 92 people working at Cypra slaughterhouse who were found positive to coronavirus on Saturday, to self-isolate.

Close contacts are considered:

  • A person who lives with a confirmed coronavirus case.
  • A person who has had direct physical contact with a confirmed case (eg handshake, hug, kiss).
  • A person who has had unprotected contact with infectious respiratory secretions of a confirmed case.
  • A person who had face-to-face contact with a confirmed case at a distance of less than 2 meters and for more than 15 minutes.
  • A person who was indoors (eg classroom, office, cinema, hospital waiting area, etc.) with a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes and at a distance of less than 2 meters.

The ministry urges those who did not get tested yet, to call 1412 helpline between 8am and 8pm Monday to Wednesday next week or send their details (full name, telephone number and name of contact) by email to [email protected].

People who have symptoms are urged to directly contact their family physician (GP) for a medical assessment or call 1420, mentioning they are a close contact.
