Anorthosis continue good start, relief for Apoel in cup

Anorthosis beat Ethnikos 1-0 in Achna on Tuesday evening to go level on points with Apollon at the top of the Cyprus first division.

In Wednesday’s other match in the Cyprus championship, Ermis won 1-0 at Nea Salamina.

There was also action in the Cyprus Cup, with under-pressure Apoel, who fired Marinos Ouzounidis as coach on Monday, getting some much-needed relief with a 4-0 first round win over Paeek Kerynias in Lakatamia.

Karmiotissa Polemidion beat Onisillos Sotiras 2-0 in their cup second round fixture.
