Coronavirus: 160 cases announced on Friday (Updated)

The health ministry announced 160 cases of coronavirus on Friday from 4,327 tests.

A total of 51 cases were found through contact tracing, and 89 from private initiative tests.

The ministry said three cases were detected in tests on patients at state hospital laboratories, three were found from 70 individuals tested on doctors’ orders, and four were found at care homes.

Another ten cases were found through testing on around 950 passenges.

None were detected among 124 school samplings.

Twenty-two people are being treated with Covid-19 at Famagusta General, the reference hospital.  Four are in the high-dependency unit.

Two people continue to be intubated at Nicosia General’s intensive care unit, while two more cases are being treated at Covid-19 wing.

The total number of cases now stands at 3,314.
