Nicosia open-air astronomy event on Sunday

An evening of astronomy will take place at the new Nicosia municipality on Sunday.

According to an announcement from the organisers, people with mobility disabilities, hearing loss, and their friends will be honorary guests at the outdoor event which will start at 6.15pm.

“The venue will be accessible to the disabled and there will be simultaneous interpretation in sign language,” the organisers said.

The theme of the event is “From the creation of the universe until today and the chronicle of the space age through World War II”.

It will be presented by astrophysicist Chrysanthos Fakas.

The presentation will be followed by astronomical observations of the moon and other celestial bodies with a telescope.

Entrance is free.

Organisers are the Nicosia municipality, the Fakas Astronomical Institute, the Cyprus Paraplegics Organisation and the Cyprus Astronomical Society.
