Nothing suspicious about abandoned suitcase, police say (Update)

Police on Monday evening cordoned off an area in central Nicosia after being alerted about the presence of an abandoned suitcase which it turned out had nothing suspicious in it.

The bomb squad was called in to examine the suitcase that has been left there earlier by a person.

Police said they were alerted at around 7.30pm that a person placed a suitcase in front of a hotel across from the Solomos Square bus terminal and left.

Around an hour later police said there was nothing suspicious in the suitcase.
