Fusionia Quartet in classics series concert

Technopolis 20 continues with its Technopolis 20 Classics concert series on Wednesday with the Fusionia Quartet, at Markideio Theatre in Paphos.

Marios Ioannou (violin), Savvas Lagou (violin), Sorin Alexandru Horlea (viola) and Robert Grod (cello) got together after discovering that their passion for playing quartet music was connected with the presentation of a programme that combines the classical string quartet repertory with other styles of music.

The concert’s programme will begin with the lively Divertimento in D major, K. 136, composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the age of 16, in a productive period of composition, when he was travelling throughout Europe, getting inspiration from each country’s musical styles and traditions, London, Paris, Austria, Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy.

5 sketches for string quartet, a journey from darkness to light in five different steps, is the result of a fruitful collaboration between amateur composer-arranger Sorin A. Horlea and promising young Cypriot composer Apollon Kalamenios. The programme will end with a selection of pieces from the album Last Leaf by the Danish String Quartet (DSQ). DSQ is widely recognised as the most exciting young string quartet today, bringing new insights to contemporary composition and core classical repertoire. Fusionia Quartet will perform the following pieces: Shore, Polska from Dorothea, Intermezzo and Shine you no more.

The Technopolis 20 Classics is organised by Technopolis 20 and a private sponsor. High-quality classical music concerts are staged, supporting local talented musicians and hosting musicians from abroad. More information on the website https://www.technopolis20.com/technopolis20-classics.
