Coronavirus: 20 new cases recorded on Sunday (updated)

The total number of Coronavirus cases recorded in Cyprus went over the 2,000 mark on Sunday as 20 new cases were seen.

This brings the total to 2,006.

The new cases include one person who came back from Romania on September 27 and got retested on the 12 day of their quarantine. A second came from Ukraine on October 4 and took the test to leave self isolation.

Three people are colleagues who all took a test after one of them developed symptoms on October 7.

Another is a student at the university who developed symptoms in October 5.

Two people were tested before travelling back to Russia. They had arrived in Cyprus on September 28.

One is an air steward who was tested as part of regular tests in the industry.

One person developed symptoms on October 4 and one on October 7.

As part of tests at the airports one person who arrived from Manchester on Saturday to Paphos was found positive.

Contact tracing found four of the new cases: one is a family contact from the cluster announced on Saturday; two are from the family of another person in the same cluster, which now numbers eight people; one is a close contact of a case announced on October 6.

One case was found from random tests carried out in the school sector, a teacher in the special education unit of a school in Paphos. He is also related to a person in the cluster mentioned above.

Two were as a result of tests ordered by personal doctors both of whom developed symptoms on Friday.

One person was found as part of the programme to perform random tests in Larnaca and Famagusta, who lives in Paralimni.

The new cases were the result of 3,365 tests.

In the north during the last 24 hours, seven new cases were recorded, four at the airport, two at the port and one was the contact of a known case.
