Man drowns saving teen in Limassol

A 48-year-old man died on Friday evening in Limassol by drowning after trying to save a young man’s life.

The man, a Romanian permanent resident, realised that a 19-year-old man, also Romanian, was drowning and went into the sea to save his life.

The incident occurred at around 8pm in Limassol.

Both were taken to Limassol general hospital but the 48-year-old was pronounced dead.

The 19-year-old was monitored by lung specialists but was released as his condition was good.

The 48-year-old’s exact cause of death will be determined by a post-mortem.
