Coronavirus: Six new cases on Monday (Updated)

The health ministry on Monday announced six new cases of the coronavirus bringing the total to 970.

Five were from repatriated individuals and one was from a test carried out on private initiative. The latter was also a recently repatriated individual who tested negative upon arrival. After a few days while self isolating at home, the repatriated person decided to take the test again independently.

The health ministry said of the 337 tests carried out from repatriated individuals, five were positive. Contact tracing has began and they will remain in isolation until they are tested again.

A total of 799 tests were carried out.

As of Monday afternoon, three people were being treated at the Famagusta general hospital. Two people were in the Nicosia general hospital ICU, one of which was intubated.

In total, there were 48 tests in hairdressers, barbers, beauticians and restaurants. A further 39 test results were negative from students and school staff, 124 tests from hospital laboratory tests, 44 tests as part of contact tracing and 153 tests from vulnerable groups.
