Police officer in custody for corruption

A 41-year-old police officer was remanded in custody for five days on Wednesday in connection with corruption and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The hearing was held behind closed doors.

The officer was arrested by the force’s internal affairs department on Tuesday.

He is being investigated for dereliction of duty, disobedience, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, interference with a judicial process, money laundering, and corruption.
