Police warn of road closures as private dam expected to overflow during the night

Police were on Thursday evening advising motorists of possible detours on the Limassol-Paphos highway as a precaution due to the high possibility of a local dam overflowing.

Authorities said that a private dam in the area of Ha Potami, Paphos district was expected to overflow sometime during the night.

As a precaution, police were already in the vicinity preparing if need be to cut off sections of the Limassol-Paphos highway and of the old Limassol-Paphos road.

Drivers were being advised to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary.
