Discover Larnaca through a treasure hunt

Often tours and activities happening around the city are seen as tourist experiences, though there’s always something more to discover whether you are in your hometown, you’ve lived here for years or are visiting. Recently locals and long-term residents have been joining in on themed walking tours and experiences exploring the sites of Cyprus.

An event adhering to this notion is coming up this weekend. Let’s Share Larnaca will be a walking treasure hunt around the city where individuals, groups, families and friends are invited to come and share the experience of the city’s cultural heritage sites or points of reference in a fun way.

During the game participants are invited to publish photos from the city on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtags #DIGINV and #DIGINVCyprus. Whether or not they appear in the photos is entirely their choice.

And as every game has rules, so does this one but they’re fairly simple. At the starting point, participants will receive a photo and other material. They’ll have to identify the location and go there to find the person who will give the next photo or clue. Asking around for help is allowed and encouraged. All five photos/items must be collected in two hours and photos must be published between Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March. Photos must contain both hashtags to win. The winner will be the profile owner whose photo receives the most reactions/likes.

Let’s share Larnaca is organised within the framework of the EU Funded Programme Erasmus+ Digital Invasions for the promotion of cultural heritage and aims to increase cultural interest and practices by engaging citizens, cultural institutions and using technology as a catalyst for citizens to experience culture in a new way. Thus, the treasure hunt was born. What’s more? It won’t cost you a thing.
