Food supplement recalled for false labelling

Authorities on Thursday recalled a food supplement powder after it was discovered it contained whey protein which was not mentioned in the ingredients label.

Whey protein is an allergenic substance and can cause health problems to persons who are allergic to it, the health ministry said in a written statement.

The state health services have already informed the product’s importer with instructions to immediately recall it from the market.

Consumers who may have the product in their possession and are allergic to whey protein are urged to not consume it and return it to the shop they bought it from.
