Worldly music with Trio Frission

An upcoming event organised by Paphos Music Lovers and under the auspices of Peyia Mayor Marinos Lambrou will see the Cypriot band Trio Frisson performing on February 10.

The three-member band will present a music style that goes by the name ‘hip soul’, an amalgamation of elements taken from soul, groove, reggae and hip hop that the musicians blend with their World Music influences, jazz and R&B.

Trio Frission have been working on their sound for some time as their debut album Great Escapes was released in late 2013 and featured 11 original songs and a host of great musicians playing trumpet, violin and guitar. In a bit to push their own work and to experiment, the band performs original songs regularly.

The band has appeared at some of Cyprus’ most famous art and music events including the Cyprus Jazz & Music Showcase and numerous festivals such as Afrobanana, Windcraft and Fengaros.

Their original material continues to grow as Trio Frission lines up performances around the island as their second studio album is being finalised.
