Prodromou welcomes Prespes agreement

The Prespes agreement is a big step towards normalising neighbourly relations in the Balkans, government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said on Saturday.

“As is already being recognised by the international community, this historic agreement contributes to stability and cooperation,” Prodromou said.

The Greek Parliament on Friday ratified the Prespes agreement with 153 votes in favour, ending a decades-long name dispute with its neighbouring country to the north, now renamed as Republic of North Macedonia, to differentiate from Greece’s northern province of Macedonia.
