‘Dutch tourists visit the north ignoring political pressure’

During the past nine years, there has been a surge of tourists from the Netherlands to the north which they consider to be a safe tourist destination, reports said on Sunday.

According to Turkish Cypriot media, ‘Tourism Minister’, Fikri Ataoglu, who represented the breakaway regime at the Vakantiebeurs tourism exhibition in Utrecht in the Netherlands, said that during the past nine years, Dutch tourists ignore political pressure and choose the north for their holidays.

Ataoglou said that the campaign to promote the north as a tourist destination in the Netherlands continues through both tourism exhibitions and the digital market.

Every year, he said, large travel agencies in the Netherlands are transferring tourists to the north with chartered flights, and smaller agencies through scheduled flights. Ataoglu said that the Dutch consider the north a safe tourist destination.
