Man wanted by Interpol arrested in Limassol

A total of 20 European arrest warrants had been issued by Interpol against a 42-year-old from Limassol who was arrested in a pub on Saturday night.

According to the police, the man was spotted by on duty officers and taken to the Limassol CID offices, where he was told the Greek authorities had issued so many warrants for his arrest.

The warrants refer to cases of taking part in a criminal organisation, fraud, extortion, counterfeiting and tax avoidance. They sought to have him imprisoned.

The 42-year-old was arrested and is being held in police custody while procedures are started to hand him over to the Greek authorities.
